Wednesday Wants - Those Killer Givenchy Boots...

I know that these Givenchy bondage boots aren't exactly new, but ever since I lay eyes on them, I couldn't get them out of my mind... Very brazen, very chic, tastefully kinky ;-)

Monday Musings - "PeepToe" Shoes

It's been a tough weekend... attended a funeral over a few days (wow talk abt covering all grounds - there were taoist & buddhist ceremonies and some other rituals I didn't understand.

Sorry if I seem a bit detached, it was for my fiance's uncle, so I have no idea at all who he is/was. And my fiance didn't seem to know him that well either.

I was clad in black and grey throughout the few days mostly. The relatives were all very simple dressers so I didn't wear the vintage lace-trim black dress I initially planned to wear. Turns out that not many people followed the usual dress code - there were orange, green, red, yellow tops and some odd prints among the crowd on the first night. There was surprisingly very little mourning going on too. Perhaps they are grieving in their own way or they prefer to celebrate that he has gone to a better place.

(I was secretly mourning Yasmin Ahmad, the wonderful lady who has touched so many lives unknowingly, and even mine. A truly beautiful soul, she was.

Some info from the Sun, Voize & KLUE, on Youtube - Youtube 1, Youtube 2)

Anyway, it was eye-opening nonetheless, to witness this event. I would say that I went more for the living, than for the deceased. To accompany my fiance and support his parents who were there throughout the whole do.

I realise that life's just too short to worry about the petty things, about petty people. I'm now striving to live my life to the fullest, like how Yasmin did. I want to contribute and touch people's lives with what little skills, knowledge, strength, passion that I have. Lots of soul-searching to be done...

Coming back to work was hard. And of course I came back in full bold colour after a long dreary weekend of blacks and greys...

And to lighten things up, I thought a touch of quirky would be perfect today.

Friday Fantasy - Nature Escapade in W

Ah, it's finally Friday, TGIF!!! Hurray! :-)

A tough & trying week it's been for me. Being sick and then bogged down crazy crazy at work (with all kinds of fire-fighting) is no freakin' fun :-P But there's been positive highlights too! I found this gem of a Thai restaurant with my fiance -- quite hidden, not that many diners sadly (well not yet anyway) with a Beautiful Artsy Interior (melikes!) in addition to a Ravishingly Delicious Gastronomical Offering ;-9 Can't wait for my next trip there ^-^

I know this is supposed to be a fashion-focused blog but I'm going to post pics of that little gem next week, LOL ^-^ Hey, a fashionista's gotta eat, and good eats deserve some luuurve too ;-)

Anyway, back to today's little treasure. I stumbled across this Fabulous find of an editorial in W's August 2009 issue from this cool fashion blog -- very nature-oriented & a bit edgy (yes I was into that yesterday too, LOL - I'm suffering chronic paradise island vacation withdrawal symptoms) :-P

The model here is the pale beautiful Guinevere van Seenus
and this was shot on Cumberland Island in Georgia by Mario Sorrenti
.

I think this is a brilliant editorial, like it's set in a much darker version of the Enchanted Forest of Enid Blyton's. And instead of cutesy fairies and elves, it features the very exotic Guinevere, made up to look like a mysterious, ethereal wood nymph.

Highlights include a daring all-feather Alexander McQueen dress, (that reminds me of The Crow, that movie, but with loads more mystical styling thrown in of course), a goth and glam-rock inspired Nina Ricci shoes, and many other zany couture looks that are not for the fashion meek average person on the street...
Oh and the hot pink headpiece reminds me of the Statue of Liberty somewhat.
Freedom to be vibrantly quirky is how I would interpret it ;-)

I'd like to be in an artsy nature piece like this one day. A just for fun project.
Hmmm....

Wednesday Wants - Some Funk & Colour Please!

I was sick in bed today. Accursed headache from hell. Gah.
Pound pound pounding like some 'feng tao' joint landed on my head with loud crash and went aspinning, round round, whoaa crazy.

Needing some colour to cheer me up, so I checked what Missoni was up to.

Fun, vibrant, swirly, colourful dancing patterns, so so funky, so so me! :-P

I thought these made such delish get-well gifts. I'd exorcise that demon of a headache with ease just by having these darlings in my wardrobe ;-P Wear one and voila, instantly headache-free and happy!

Tuesday Tune - Back to B&W Basics

AAAAH, I'm back. Physically yes, but my mind is still wandering the island, missing and craving the warm sun, soft powder-like sand and gloriously shimmery blue sea... :-P

Sunday night was all about catching some rest eye (we had to wake up at an ungodly hour to be sure we didn't miss our flight back), loads of unpacking, putting things to laundry, sorting out the shopping :-P

Monday was pretty much catching up at work *ugh!* and checking Facebook to see what my friends have been up to / if I've been missing anything important. Went alright.

Today, I'm checking out some Black & Whites - a constrast from the myriad of colours I've been frolicking in during my short break.

And I came across these darlings again (featured in a previous post).
Is it a sign? :-P Time to shop for black & whites LOL.

Viktor & Rolf shoes out & about! Woot!
I think they look hotter
(haute-er?:-P) off the runway - totally wearable, extremely chic!!!

I waaant... :-P
